Where is the Hope?
One day in a small group discussion, a leader asked the teens, "Where do you find hope?" One teen girl solemnly said, "There is no hope." Walking through underprivileged neighborhoods, having conversations with students and families reveal a dark reality that they live in. The vision for their life is weighed down by survival and overwhelming hardship. In the midst of financial and social challenges, Scranton is also part of a region that is ranked as the 12th most post-Christian region in America. Most of the students we work with are not connected to a church community and many are not aware of the life-changing good news of Jesus. Where is their hope?

This is Why We Go
We go to meet the next generation where they are at in the city. Our faithful "going" over the past 30 years has led children, youth, and parents to connect to a holistic loving community, life-changing opportunities, mentorship, and HOPE for their future.

Life-Change in a Life and Neighborhood
One teen student Rara, who started coming out to Mission Scranton 9 years ago as a child said, "Whenever I think of Valley View (neighborhood), I think of you guys. You have always been there for us and my life would not be the same without you."

Your giving fuels our mission to empower lives by:

• Strengthening and building a staff and volunteer team to lead free mentorship programs, events, and camp trips all-year-round.
• Providing for the program operation resources and expenses for van transportation, building spaces, program supplies, and office supplies.
• Giving a nourishing meal to a student at our weekly programs.
• Funding life-changing events and scholarships for our students to attend events, trips, and camps.
• Empowering our team to love on the whole family through helping with emergency and spontaneous needs, offering free back-to-school parties, putting on free family Christmas parties with a gift store, and other neighborhood events.
